Coverage can differ between JR services, private railways, airport trains, reserved seats, buses, ferries, and limited express routes. Confirm the current operator rules before treating a pass as an all-purpose ticket.
Compare the pass with individual tickets, an IC card, or a different regional product. Convenience can be valuable even when the pass is not the absolute lowest price, but the tradeoff should be clear.
